The brief

Designing for people and business.

Brokers were managing opportunities across spreadsheets, email and legacy systems. The product goal was to centralize the commercial workflow and help teams prioritize the clients most likely to need attention.

Key constraints

  • High-density portfolio data
  • Different workflows across broker profiles
  • Legacy APIs and desktop-first daily routines
01

The challenge

Brokers move between leads, clients, quotes and renewals throughout the day. Fragmented tools and information-heavy screens made it difficult to see priorities and act at the right moment.

02

The solution

The platform brings the commercial workflow into one responsive workspace, with clear pipeline states, useful filters and visual summaries that highlight opportunities requiring attention.

03

The impact

A consolidated experience reduces context switching and gives brokers a faster, more confident view of their portfolio and sales activity.

Approach

From complexity to clarity.

  1. 01Stakeholder Interviews
  2. 02Data Visualization Design
  3. 03Broker Workflow Optimization
  4. 04Responsive Web Development
Discovery

Evidence before interface.

Methods

4 stakeholder interviews, 8 broker interviews, workflow shadowing and an audit of the existing sales funnel.

Key insight

The main issue was not lack of data; it was lack of prioritization. Brokers spent the first part of each day reconstructing what required action.

Opportunity

Turn the home screen into a decision surface that connects portfolio signals to a clear next best action.

Design rationale

Decisions, not decoration.

01

Action-oriented dashboard

Renewals, stalled quotes and follow-ups are ranked by urgency instead of displayed as equally weighted notifications.

02

Details without losing context

A side panel lets brokers inspect a client, compare products and take notes without leaving the pipeline they are working in.

03

Designed for expert speed

Saved views, bulk actions, keyboard-friendly navigation and persistent filters support frequent, high-volume tasks.

Iteration

The work evolved through feedback.

A clickable prototype was tested with 7 brokers using renewal and lead-qualification scenarios. Their feedback led to a denser table option, persistent filters and clearer ownership indicators.

Outcome
Quantitative outcomes are not currently available for public disclosure.
Reflection & next steps

What I learned.

Designing for specialists meant resisting the urge to oversimplify. The best solution paired a clear default view with power-user controls. Next, I would validate dashboard personalization using real portfolio volumes over a longer pilot.
